Yesterday 6/9 I turned on my computer and was unable to get online...I have Verizon Internet and a DSL line - my modem and wireless router "seemed" to be working fine - I could see both my computers on my home network - but couldnt get online. Since "I Live" online - I felt homeless and out in the cold! So I took out my latest Verizon bill to get a phone number to call and saw that they had an insert for the new FIOS service and noted too - that they had a special going on that would make the new FIOS and Phone Service bundle - $10 less than what I currently pay for my DSL and Phone. So I called and asked all about the FIOS services etc. and they said they could hook me up first thing the next day (today) - and my speed would be much faster than the DSL line...so figured - Id go for it - saving money and going FASTER - thats my kind of deal.
It took the technician about 2 hours to wire me up and he installed a new wireless router (so I still have my original wireless router that I bought new last summer and I will keep it for a spare - for when I move to Florida) - and hooked me up via my network on my laptop too.
I didnt pay anything for the hookup or wireless router , I am paying $80 (plus taxes and other "fees") a month for a fiber optic speed of what they call 20m/5m and their Freedom Essentials Phone Services.
I have noticed a much faster connection and loading of pages. I uploaded 50 photos to Snapfish in about 90 seconds - which was much faster than my DSL line.

However, Ive hopefully provided all the required resources in my Friends of Mac-Security list at the right of this page. The only other items Id add would be to regularly check for updates from Adobe and Java updates from Oracle. Thankfully, Apple automatically and reliably alerts users to updates.
Quick notes:
• There have be a few recent species of Mac malware crawling out of the malware rat holes. You can read about them at The Secure Mac linked in the Friends of… list at the right.
• Adobe, Oracle and Apple have provided a huge slew of critical security updates over the past two weeks.
• Also of vital note, the Touch ID system on the iPhone 5S has been cracked or circumvented by a variety of methods. IOW: It aint perfect. In fact, it met the widespread expectation of not being much of an improvement over older fingerprint scanners. I cant personally recommend using it as anything but part of a multi-factor authorization system. Apple has kind-of, sort-of done that by integrating the requirement of a passcode for certain user behaviors and after 5 failed attempts at logging in with a fingerprint. Ill write in depth about this subject at another time.
Thanks for checking here for new posts! I expect Ill get the writing engine back up and running this weekend with a summary of whats new over the last few weeks.

Im in Florida
Im in Florida
yippee!
My sister and I arrived on Wednesday night. We had a nice drive down from Buffalo.
I will take my time to look for a place of my own. Living with my daughter and her family is a wonderful thing for me right now.
The 7th of October will be my 42nd Wedding Anniversary. I miss Paul soooooo much, but am grateful for the many marvelous memories we shared. Hard to imagine my future without him in it, but I am moving forward and hoping for lots more time here on this Earth.

My sister and I (I am on left) - she left on a Jet Plane..going home to Jacksonville and her hubby. She was an absolute treasure to have with me for the month of September. She did the majority of box packing, compiled spread sheets of everything thats in the PODS, and was my go too gal for everything and anything I needed. Thank YOU - Carol!!! Love Ya!!

note: unfortunately the player converted this to 30fps, so its not playing correctly. Youtube looses sync, metacafe deletes my files, vimeo turns the image pink... :( Im working on getting this fixed!
I wasnt gonna post this till it was done, but what the heck! Unfortunately it seems that the audio got knocked out of sync somewhere in the uploading process. Ive been doing this at nights/weekends/lunch breaks... its tough not animating for more than an hour. Either you wanna keep going, or its really hard to turn your brain on all of the sudden on something different. Im proud of it so far, but there are about 20 billion fixes I have in mind for it! I left the widescreen as see through so I could play with the eventual composition (therell be a BG eventually). Hope you likey!
