Masih banyak yang bertanya ke saya tentang cystal report dan Visual Studio (VB). Berikut ini rangkuman-nya yang mungkin bisa menambah pengetahuan sababat djiesoft.
-> Versi terbaru dari crystal report berapa ? ada dua versi :
1. Versi 11 (XI) untuk crystal report universal
    Versi ini dapat kamu download di blog saya di SINI. Ini tidak ter-integrasi dengan visual studio, artinya diluar/terpisah dengan visual studio. Sama halnya dengan versi sebelumnya yaitu Crystal report 8.5, 9 dan 10. Kamu bisa membuat (Create & Design) laporan/report dengan ektensi .rpt (file_name.rpt)
2. Versi 13 untuk crystal report for visual studio (2010,2012,2013)
   Versi ini dapat kamu download di blog saya di SINI. jika melihat sejarah visual studio .NET, dari mulai versi 2002,2003,2005 dan 2008 itu didalamnya sudah terdapat (include) crystal report. Jadi sebenarnya kamu tidak perlu menginstal crystal report lagi, toh kamu bisa membuat crystal report di dalam project visual studio. Tetapi visual studio .NET mulai versi 2010,2012 dan 2013, crystal report sudah tidak di-include-kan lagi dalam setup/installer-nya oleh Microsoft, makanya lahirlah crystal report 13 for visual studio dari SAP, klo secara kasarnya agar ada crystal report di dalam visual studio-nya (agar sama seperti visual studio 2008 kebawah)
-> Jadi harus instal yang mana ? crystal report 11 atau cryatal report 13 ?
   Jawabannya : tergantung. Tetapi intinya adalah  :
   1.jika kamu install visual studio 2010-2013 maka kamu WAJIB install crystal report 13 (klo bahasa awam nya agar di toolbox report ada crystal report-nya atau saat add new items ada pilihan crystal report-nya).
   2.Jika kamu merasa kurang puas/kurang leluasa dalam create & design report di dalam project visual studio, maka kamu boleh install crystal report universal (bebas mau versi 8.5 sampai 11 (XI)) agar bisa create design report diluar.
-> Apa bedanya membuat report di dalam visual studio dan di luar visual studio ?
   Jadi begini, ada beberapa cara membuat crystal report :
   1.Untuk visual studio versi 2010-2013, Configurasi dulu project Visual studio kamu agar tidak error & support Crystal Report dengan cara :
    ->create new project, set target framework = 4.0
    ->Edit App.Config
   
    ->Dengan catatan kamu sudah instal crytal report 13 for visual studio
   2.Membuat report di dalam visual studio
        caranya add new item pilih report, pilih crystal report. file report.rpt itu akan langsung include ke project kamu (satu folder)
   3.Membuat report diluar crystal report kemudian di-add ke project visual studio
        caranya click crystal report dari start menu, pilih file, pilih new report. setelah kamu selesai design report-nya jangan lupa save, contoh di c: estmyreport.rpt. Selanjutnya tinggal add saja ke project (add existing item)
   3.Setelah file report.rpt sudah include di project visual studio, baik yang dibuat di dalam project maupun diluar project visual studio, kamu tinggal gunakan Crystal Report Viewer.
        caranya tinggal add Crystal Report Viewer ke form kemudian pilih report sourcenya (browse).
        atau kamu bisa gunakan cara yang sudah saya posting di SINI dan di SINI.
